gram of the day – Water addition

So currently I have a top down, rpg sorta game that has enemies (with some ai), walls and basically the skeleton of a game. I’m planning to add more gameplay features as of right now. Today I added a new feature – water. As common as this may seem, I believe that it is an essential part of a lot of games. Making it wasn’t hard, but it wasn’t easy either. I faced plenty of bugs regarding collisions and movement speed but it worked out in the end. Hopefully I can polish this a bit more and make other objects also get affected by the water.

As you can see here, you also have a stick for melee attacks and hp was getting attacked. I plan to add way more weapons as i intend them to be the main “thing” of the game.

Update:

I have added several other game mechanics such as a key feature where the player can pick it up. I’ve also added a feature where the player can see that they picked up the key – this can be seen next to the hp GUI. I plan to add a new type of enemies tomorrow!

Thank you for reading today’s gram of the day.

My First Blog Post – ish thingy

I’m not the type of person to write pointless lines of oh my first blog post or anything, however, I am also the type of person to not keep my promises.

In the future i will be writing about my journey through programming, however quick reminder that I am not new to programming. I started learning python several months before and a bit of c++, I’ve also taken a lot of interested in game development, especially gamemaker studio 2. However, this time i want to take things more “seriously” so in pursuit of that, I’ve created a blog for absolutely no reason. Anyway I hope people somehow stumble across my blog and read my stuff!

(ps. yes I am very aware of it having a watermark and a non-transparent background. Look, eggs are good for you ok? Embrace them while they last)
